Kidney Donation FAQ’s

  • No. Living with one kidney is safe and does not shorten life expectancy. Donors often live just as long — or longer — than the general population.

  • That’s okay. Through the Paired Kidney Exchange Program, your gift can still help John receive a kidney from another donor.

  • No. People well into their 60s, 70s, and beyond have successfully donated.

  • Donors do not pay medical costs for testing or surgery — these are covered by John’s insurance.

  • The wait is years long, and the risks of remaining on dialysis are high. Living donor kidneys also last longer and have better outcomes.

  • Yes!

    • Spread the Word: Share John’s story with your network — friends, coworkers, churches, community groups, and on social media.

    • Support the Journey: Offer encouragement, connect us with resources, or help amplify our search.
