No. Living with one kidney is safe and does not shorten life expectancy. Donors often live just as long — or longer — than the general population.

That’s okay. Through the Paired Kidney Exchange Program, your gift can still help John receive a kidney from another donor.

No. People well into their 60s, 70s, and beyond have successfully donated.

Donors do not pay medical costs for testing or surgery — these are covered by John’s insurance.

The wait is years long, and the risks of remaining on dialysis are high. Living donor kidneys also last longer and have better outcomes.
